Faith is meant to be lived. Through local outreach, disaster relief, and Christian mission trips in the United States and abroad, Chris Long and his family seek to serve alongside communities, build relationships, and demonstrate the love of Jesus through practical action.

What we write at Sing Write Read is built around faith meeting real life. Mission work is one way that belief moves beyond words—into service, relationships, prayer, generosity, and showing up when people are hurting. Whether across the world or across town, the goal is the same: serve people with humility and point toward Christ through both words and action.
On July 21, 2026, flash floods inundated Weston, West Virginia and the surrounding area when the West Fork River breached its banks.
Chris will travel to Weston and meet a team from Men for Missions, a ministry of OneMissionSociety.org. He will work on remodel and construction projects.
Your donation will help pay for travel expenses, lodging, and meals. Funds raised beyond those initial expenses will buy materials for the projects or go to the Weston community.

Our family served at the Caribbean Christian Centre for the Deaf in January 2026 (read about that trip here) with a group of missionaries from Jersey and Greene Counties, Illinois. What we discovered in Jamaica wasn’t what we expected.
The Deaf community is among the most underreached people group in the world. Why? Communication can become difficult when people do not share a common language or communication method, and hearing is a critical component to facilitate the ease of communication.
At the CCCD, we found a close and vibrant community and culture. The CCCD provides education, vocational training, and Christian teaching to the Deaf students there.
Your donation will help pay for travel expenses, lodging, and meals. Funds raised beyond those initial expenses will buy materials for the projects or go directly to the CCCD school.

One doesn’t have to go far to shine the light of Christ to the lost.
There are ample opportunities to demonstrate Jesus’s love in every neighborhood.
In 2022, Chris and his family traveled to New Orleans, Louisiana. Caroll connected with a downtown church, which led to giving Chris the opportunity to go to the French Quarter and experience street ministry.
This divine appointment changed Chris’s life.
In 2024, Sing Write Read began to reach out to the homeless communities in Southern Illinois. Realizing he could not solve the problems of homelessness, Chris went into the camps with a specific mission–offer a usable gift and deliver a message:
“I’m only here to tell you that there are Christians who see you and who love you.”
This is followed by the message of the Gospel.
Chris has blessed the homeless with prayer, words of affirmation, health care and hygiene packs, socks, and stocking caps.
Travel with Chris into these homeless camps through his videos on YouTube. He took extra care to keep homeless individuals out of the videos to protect their identities.
Chris and his family have been serving at the Victory Dream Center food pantry since 2020. Serving weekly at the pantry has simply become part of who they are as a family.
Victory Dream Center operates the food pantry twice per week, on Wednesday morning and Saturday night. Enjoy a hot meal on Saturday during Dinner Church before the pantry distribution.
Just months after the close of Chris’s twenty-year-old company, the Long family found themselves heading to Jamaica for their first overseas mission trip. God’s timing appeared to be clear and His message distinct.
Serving with the Deaf in Jamaica blessed each member of our family in unique ways. Through work projects, worship services, playing, and hanging out, we found ourselves immersed in a culture that compares to no other.
Hearing and speaking are the foundation of face-to-face interaction. Without hearing, both are lost and communication is meticulously written on pen and paper. Put any type of physical distance in the equation, and even this method of conveying information is lost.

The team presented a Billy Graham Bible to every homeowner we served.
On December 10, 2021, Western Kentucky experienced the country’s deadliest tornado since 2011, and the deadliest tornado during the month of December in U.S. history. Fifty-seven people lost their lives that night.
When I found out I could go to Mayfield as a volunteer with Samaritan’s Purse, I threw my chainsaw and PPE into the trunk of my car and drove down there. I registered at Samaritan’s base of operations, found a hotel room, and started working the next morning. There was no shortage of chainsaw work to be done.
